Spotlight, this Wednesday, September 25, on the rise of supermarkets that practice price transparency. Nearly a year after the farmers’ crisis, this practice is enjoying great success in a store in Nice.

This is something new in the OTERA store in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes): no intermediary or purchasing center. 60% of the products are short circuit, with a clear desire for clarity on prices. On our posters, we are completely transparent with our customers. On 2.50 euros for the kilo of butternut, our farmer will receive 1.50 euros, OTERA 86 cents, plus the VAT of 14 cents”explains a manager.

The approach is particularly appreciated by consumers.”Products without intermediaries, we say that potentially, farmers keep their margin“, confides a customer. In total, around forty producers from the region work with the store. OTERA’s turnover, for its part, has almost doubled in four years. An expansion plan is planned throughout France.
