What if you installed your solar panels yourself to pay less? More and more families who wish to equip themselves are deciding to go it alone. Report in Larmor-Plage, in Morbihan, where individuals are trained by professionals.

From laying to installing glazing, including black paint finishes and cutting aluminum, trainees from Larmor-Plage (Morbihan) learn to create their solar water heaters. Soon, Anne Kermorvan will install it on her roof. “With the different tools we use, in the end, it’s quite easy”, she rejoices. The training, including purchase of the panel, costs less than 1,000 euros.

With her husband, they wish to gain autonomy. “What we want is to be able to know what we are installing, to be able to repair it if necessary”, explains Anne. Here, no photovoltaic panels, but sensors which use the sun directly to heat the water circulating inside. Less known and less often offered by craftsmen, the device is however more profitable and more efficient than photovoltaics. “Three to four times more powerful”even specifies Samuel Le Berre, founder of the Aezeo training center.
