While 600 firefighters are fighting the flames on Sunday July 24, the next few days, less hot, should offer them some respite.
In Landiras, in Gironde, the fire is still not fixed. The entire Landiras sector (Gironde) is under close surveillance again this evening. “More than 600 firefighters are still mobilized this Sunday evening in the south of the Gironde. It is impossible to let our guard down in the face of these very many outbreaks of fire identified today. From now on, they are counting a lot on the drop in temperatures which is expected from tomorrow, to finally take control of this fire.“, explains Julie Vitaline live from Villandraut (Gironde).
While the next few days should see a drop in temperature of 10 degrees less than today, firefighters are very optimistic about the control of this blaze. “One of their goals is to reopen the last hamlets still closed to traffic, and thus allow their inhabitants to return to their homes. The vast majority of evacuees have been able to return to their homes in recent days“, she concludes.
