(OTTAWA) Manufacturing sales fell 0.8% to $71.8 billion in June, driven by a drop in the petroleum and coal products sector, Statistics Canada said Monday. .

The decline comes as sales fell in 8 of the 21 industries tracked by the federal agency and after falling 1.1% in May.
According to Statistics Canada, sales in the petroleum and coal industry fell 7.8% in June as concerns over the global economic slowdown led to lower demand for energy products, as well as contributing to the decrease of sales.
Sales of wood products fell 7.2% in June, while sales of aerospace products and parts fell 16.8%.
At the same time, motor vehicle sales rose 13.8%.
Overall sales in constant dollars edged up 0.1% in June.
