Two men have been arrested in an anti-terrorism operation in Italy. They are suspected of having praised the Al-Qassam brigades in particular.

Two young people aged 20 and 22, of Pakistani origin, have just been apprehended by the police in Bescia (Italy). On social networks, they defended Hamas. “We are dealing with an apology for the Islamic State and the Al-Qassam brigades. But we have also discovered elements linked to supremacism and Nazism”said Giada Pecoraro, deputy police commissioner of Brescia.

Italian police officers deployed in large numbers

The two men had been spotted since 2022. Investigators decided to put them behind bars. “We will check whether these incentives have provoked attacks in other regions of the world”, said Brescia prosecutor Francesco Prete. In the meantime, Italy is on edge. Police officers are deployed at train stations, airports and public places to prevent any attacks during the end-of-year holidays.
