IN IMAGES – A Christmas trail lights up the village of Stosswihr at nightfall

In Stosswihr, in the valley of Munster, there is no Christmas market, but a Silberwald Christmas trail to discover at nightfall, from 5 pm. Departing from the village hall, you will discover the history and the magic of Christmas. An event that exists since 2010.

The trail takes you for two kilometers in a universe made of illuminations, but also of discoveries : the house of Santa Claus and his elves, an illuminated fountain, nativity scenes are also to be admired along the way.

More than twenty volunteers, three weeks to make the decorations

The inhabitants of the village, but also the volunteers are mobilized to make your eyes widen. The houses and gardens are decorated on the way. “The locals are playing along, and so are the volunteers. It’s a real titanic job, with three weeks of work to put everything in place,” underlines the mayor of Stosswihr, Daniel Thomen.

Guided tour this Thursday, December 30 at 6 p.m.

The trail can be explored freely, but also accompanied by a guide. It’s the case this Thursday, December 30 at 6 p.m., from the village hall. Two hours of discovery of the history of the village, the history of Christmas and its traditions. We will also immerse you in the origins of the marcaires, mountain farmers, but also to discover the house of Santa Claus, the route of the tram which at the time linked Munster to the Schlucht pass, or even a farm. agricultural.

Access is free and open, you must wear a mask. A small snack will be possible in the village hall (with sanitary pass), you will also be able to hear the sound of mountain horns. The Stosswihr Christmas Trail is visible until January 6, 2022.
