“To spend the end of the year holidays with peace of mind”, “to protect my loved ones”, “for safety”… So many reasons put forward this weekend, by the few dozen eligible people who came to the Dinan vaccination center, to receive a third dose of an anti-covid vaccine – Pfizer, in this case. Health professionals, people at risk, and over 65s are concerned. And more and more of them are coming for their booster dose.
700 injections per day planned
While this Sunday, the government spokesperson speaks of a progression “dazzling” coronavirus, the epidemic situation is also deteriorating markedly in Brittany. According to the latest data from the ARS, unveiled on Friday, the incidence rate of Covid-19 now stands at 109.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (+24.8 points) at the regional level, with a positivity rate 4.5%. In addition, the region currently has 60 clusters under investigation.
So people eligible for the 3rd dose begin to arrive en masse in the centers. “After a period of lull after the summer, we are seeing a clear recovery”, confirms the coordinator of the Dinan vaccination center, Laurence Le Bot. In this center, nearly 30% of those vaccinated are over 65 years old, just behind those who come for a second injection. And this will increase further in the coming weeks Laurence Le Bot, who sees a clear correlation between government or presidential announcements, and the number of meetings. “The next day, we see the effects”, she believes.
The vaccination campaign will gain momentum in the coming weeks. From 250 to 300 vaccinations per day counted in recent days, we are now targeting, as of Monday, 700 daily injections. It’s not as much as this summer but it should be enough to meet all the meeting requests.
