Monday, July 22, the 8 p.m. news will introduce you to the Olympic sport that animates the island of Cuba: boxing. Tradition has it that Cuban boxers have dance and endurance on their side, which are the strength of their culture. Several generations of Cubans have climbed gloves on to the top of Olympic podiums. Champions held up as examples in a country where boxing can lead to a better life.

In Cuba, the making of champions begins at a very young age. Children aged 9 to 11 meet every day in a square in Old Havana to train. “I repeat the same technique to them every day so that they can perfect it.”explains coach Luis Acosta Matos. Because the technique of Cuban boxers arouses admiration abroad. Lorenzo Garcia, a professional boxer in France, crossed the Atlantic to spend a year in Havana (Cuba) and draw inspiration from their inimitable style.
