In Amiens, a Goldorak exhibition takes fans back to the world of the robotic vigilante of the late 1970s

“From Goldorak to Goldorak” pays homage to the Japanese animated series that fascinated a whole generation of children. The exhibition also highlights Denis Bajram’s comic book adaptation published last October.

Broadcast on Antenne 2 from 1978, Goldorak quickly became the cartoon not to be missed. More than 40 years later, the gigantic space robot still has its early admirers, including illustrator Denis Bajram who co-produced a comic book in tribute to his hero. Work that serves as a framework for the exhibition presented at the Maison de la culture in Amiens.

The monumental reproductions of the drawing boards from the comics of Denis Barjam and his co-creators (Xavier Dorison, Brice Cossu, Alexis Sentenac and Yoann Guillo) occupy the walls of the Matisse room. In the rotunda, a video of about twenty minutes gives the floor to the authors who tell the birth and the realization of the album. After obtaining the green light from Go Nagai, creator of Grendizer, to continue his work, the five authors and illustrators work for three years on the continuation of the adventures of Prince Actarus and his giant robot Grendizer, which he pilots from the inside. .

The plot takes place just after the 74 episodes of the cartoon. The war between the forces of Vega, who had reduced the planet of Actarus to ashes, and Grendizer is a distant memory. Actarus, who had taken refuge on Earth during this time, returned to Euphor. But a powerful Golgoth threatens the Earthlings. So Goldorak, the vigilante robot, intervenes but the Hydragon is particularly tough. “He’s an ultimate transformer who can take any form he wants. Frankly, he’s stronger than Goldorak”, recognizes Denis Barjam. But let the fans be reassured: with his astero-axes and his lightning fists, Grendizer has something to answer for.

The exhibition also presents a giant Grendizer and derivative products that will delight nostalgics.

From Grendizer to Grendizer – Maison de la culture, 2, place Léon Gontier, Amiens – Until October 2, 2022, from Tuesday to Sunday, free entry.
