With 45 days to go before the presidential election in the United States, in Alabama, “Diners”, restaurants frequented by Americans and where political conversations are frequent, are giving the pulse of the upcoming election.
“Diners” are restaurants where Americans usually eat on weekends and where politics is a recurring topic of conversation. “I’m very worried about inflation, everything is so expensive! And, I don’t know if the candidates can really do anything”asks a customer.
“Under Donald Trump, I earned more money (…) I paid less taxes at the time”explains a consumer. In front of a hamburger, other customers eat with appetite and express themselves on the Republican candidate, Donald Trump: “I have a problem with having a repeat offender in front of me. I don’t trust him. He tried to steal the election in 2020.” Asked if he would be willing to see a female president, one customer replied: “I’ve been ready for over eight years.”
Everyone in the “Diner” is waiting to learn more about the candidates’ programs to be truly certain of their choice before going to the polls in November.
