The holidays began last Friday, October 21, and many people decided to leave, choosing rather urban destinations. Report in Aix-en-Provence where tourism professionals have found a smile.

A couple of tourists arrive from Grenoble (Isère) and have chosen Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) to spend their holidays. “We already knew this city, we like it”, said the woman. In a downtown hotel, there is no more availability. “There, we really have a very good foreign clientele and I think that the French have also stayed a lot in France and are enjoying the off-season”thinks Nadine Cam, director of the Hôtel Cézanne.

Some were still worried about the shortage of gasoline. “We would have been nowhere, given the fuel crisis, far from home, that’s for sure”, says a tourist. Others didn’t care in view of the improvement. At the tourist office, there is a new influx of tourists. Professionals are satisfied and are waiting for the second week of the holidays to confirm the trend.
