On Wednesday March 23, the Taliban had nevertheless authorized the girls to return to college and high school classes, after seven months without lessons.
“Education is our right.” It is with these words that middle school and high school girls demonstrated, Wednesday, March 23, in Kabul (Afghanistan). The young girls defied all the prohibitions imposed by the Taliban, but they did not hesitate to put themselves in danger: their distress was too strong. In the morning, after seven months without school, they were allowed to go to class. After a few minutes, they were sent home, with no explanation or return date.
“What can I say? I don’t have the words. What can we do against the Taliban? Yes, we are girls, but we are Afghanis, we are human beings. Why do we not not allowed to go to school?, confides a young girl, collapsed. On September 21, 2021, the Taliban had nevertheless assured that girls would have access to education. “We are trying, through a new appropriate procedure, to create a safe educational environment for women and girls”said Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Taliban regime.
