Immigration crisis: the orgy of false applicants

The loss of control of the immigration file over the past two years is cruelly catching up with Justin Trudeau’s government. By wanting too much to show the face of a welcoming and generous country, Canada has ended up being perceived as a country that is easy to abuse.

At this point, Canada has no choice but to reduce the number of newcomers, if only to ease the housing crisis. Canada must also restore the credibility of its border management and its immigration system.

In light of the aberrations heard recently, I would like to make a suggestion. Why not begin the exercise of regaining control over the situation by tackling everything that is wrong?

Fake applicants, fake files and even fake students. Are you wondering what I’m talking about? Explanations.

Student without studying

It is so easy to enter Canada that many succeed by using completely false pretenses. Yesterday, the Globe and Mail revealed that 19% of those admitted to Canada as foreign students… do not study! Statistics Canada compiled the data.

The student category contributes to the explosion in the number of newcomers to Canada. From 637,000 in 2019, the number increased to 807,000 three years later. Calculate: 19% of these 800,000 who don’t really study, that represents more than 150,000 fakes.

In addition, we would have allowed private colleges to develop which are not truly educational establishments. They are simply instruments to facilitate entry to Canada by issuing student visas. Fake colleges, fake students, the federal government has been warned for more than two years, and the merry-go-round continues.

Asylum seekers

Another large number of people arrive as asylum seekers. This was the case for everyone who showed up at Roxham Road. Since the closure of this famous country lane, they have flocked by the thousands to the airport.

Unfortunately, these applicants for refugee status in Canada must also be divided into two categories: real and false. Real asylum seekers are in real danger in their country. Due to war, civil war or repression, their security is threatened in their country.

We have a duty to welcome them. We are signatories to international conventions, we are lucky to live in a rich country, we must do our part to open our arms to this distress.

However, of the tens of thousands who arrive at Canadian airports, there is a significant proportion of false asylum seekers. They want to benefit from a more prosperous country, with a better standard of living, we understand. But they are neither threatened nor in danger in their country. They take advantage of the ease of entry and the slowness of processing files to settle down.

When the fake passes through so easily, we call it a sieve.
