“I’m no longer Charlie!”, Danielle Moreau gives a huge rant in “TPMP” after the publication of a cartoon on the earthquake in Turkey!

According to a new report dated this Thursday evening, February 9, more than 20,000 people died during the violent earthquake which recently struck southern Turkey and Syria. According to the Turkish relief agency Afad, 17,134 bodies have currently been excavated from the rubble at this stage while 3,162 deaths have been counted in Syria.

And while the whole world is mobilizing to help the Turkish people and the Syrian people, the satirical newspaper “Charlie Hebdo” has chosen to make fun of the situation and published, in one of its newspapers on Monday February 6, a drawing representing the unfortunate damage caused by the earthquake. “Not even need to send tanks!” can we read on the caricature which therefore evokes, indirectly, the conflict in Ukraine, Turkey having tried to mediate with Russia at the start of the war.

Danielle Moreau announces “no longer being Charlie”
This Thursday, February 9, 2023, the columnists of “Touche pas à mon poste” were invited to give their opinions on this drawing which shocks Internet users. Very uplifted, Danielle Moreau was the first to speak: “The most serious thing is that it does not denounce anything and it comes out at the same time as all the horrible images that we have just seen. It disgusts me, I am not Charlie anymore! I’m not Charlie anymore!” she said sorry.

Same story for Guillaume Genton who spoke just after: “It’s to puke and I’m fed up that we use the Charlie spirit as a pretext to accept the worst crap. There is no has no respect for the victims, it’s a drama that is recent … There we broadcast the front page, there is no one in the public who found it funny”.

Jean-Michel Maire not shocked by the drawing of Charlie Hebdo
Unlike his colleagues, Jean-Michel Maire was more conciliatory towards the newspaper: “I may be a little naive but I did not see any malice in this, I saw it as a tribute paid to Ukraine. I may be completely stupid, but I didn’t see a mean or cynical side in the drawing. For me, the designer should be questioned…”.
