“On Valentine’s Day, someone called the police to say, ‘I bought a lot of presents for Marlène Schiappa. I hear her voice in her apartment and besides, I’m going put a bullet in his head.’ I didn’t take care of it, there is an investigation. It’s the police who are doing their job.” added Marlène Schiappa who is used to being targeted.
“Sometimes there are people who take threats, who take screenshots, who tweet, etc. I only did it once, a few years ago, because I thought it went too far. Today, I don’t do it, but it’s true that every day I receive rape threats, death threats.” specified the author, not without bitterness and to underline: “When you are a minister, you are protected. We have security officers, so we are not afraid because they are very strong.”
In 2019, yellow vests did not hesitate to insult him at his home. An experience she would have done well without. “I lived the fact that dozens of people downstairs at midnight shout insults and death threats at me in the presence of my children. It’s super difficult”, confessed the politician for Entertainment TV and to conclude: “They are children, they do not have the perspective to tell themselves that they are drunk people. What they see is that there are dozens of people down there, with firecrackers, smoke bombs , who insult their mother, who shout things like: ‘We came to get you, get out of your bed, we’re going to kill you.’ So they cry saying, ‘Mom, they want to kill you, what do we do?’ It’s really a traumatic thing.”
