Swiatek has been at the top of the WTA rankings since April, she has won eight titles, including two Grand Slams, and has recorded 64 victories.

She will be the first seed in the WTA Finals, which begin on Monday.

All of her exploits have contributed to her developing an intimidating aura.

“Yes, she is a challenge, mentioned Caroline Garcia, who will be in the same group as Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Daria Kasatkina during this eight-player tournament which crowns the season. The WTA Finals are a challenge, but it is a challenge in itself. »

In the other group, we find Jessica Pegula, Maria Sakkari, Ons Jabeur and Aryna Sabalenka.

When you think of all Swiatek has accomplished this year, how can she stay motivated? The answer is a little surprising: it is not always.

“I feel like I’ve accepted that I’m not always 100% motivated. Sometimes, especially after Grand Slam tournaments, when you play in smaller tournaments, you feel that the energy level is lower, expressed Swiatek. On the other hand, when I go on the pitch, I always want to win. »

Swiatek shows a winning record against all other players present at the WTA Finals, except Sakkari. The Greek won three of the five duels.

No player, however, came close to solving the enigma that is the style of play of Swiatek, who uses her powerful forehand, varies her shots well and is able to change her tactics during a confrontation.

No player has come within 15 wins of Swiatek’s total and no other player has won more than three WTA titles this season.

Swiatek also became the first woman since 2016 to win two Grand Slam titles in a single season.
