The incident took place on June 8, 2014. The criminal Joshua Corbett had been arrested, tried and sentenced by the Californian courts. He received a 5-year suspended prison sentence with compulsory hospital care, under the supervision of a probation officer. Weapons as well as a 25-page document recounting his obsession with the actress had been found at his home.

Joshua Corbett was released in 2017. He died in May 2018. He committed suicide at his home, during an intervention by SWAT agents who came with a warrant.
