“I want my parents to be proud of me”

We call it a meteoric rise. After having shone last season under the colors of Saint-Jean-Le-Blanc in N3 (top scorer in his group with 25 goals), the striker joined the USO during the summer transfer window to strengthen the reserve team. But with the numerous injuries and suspensions in the professional group, Oumar Gassama has made a place for himself among the pros.

Frankly, I wasn’t expecting that. My versatility is an asset: I am a basic attacker, but I was able to help out as a piston. The coach is always behind me. I did not have a typical course, in a training center. He gives me lots of advice on investments, races etc…

Happy at the USO, the 25-year-old striker hopes to go as far as possible in his career to make his parents proud : “When I told them that I wanted to be a footballer, they didn’t really believe it. Now, they see me on TV, they say “Ah anyway!” (laughs)“.
