“I saw myself dying”: Roxane (Le Meilleur Pâtissier) recounts her delivery in extreme suffering

On November 16, 2021, Roxane gave birth to her third child. A little boy that the former candidate of the Best Pastry Chef (2015) and her husband Loïc named Eden. And on February 11, 2022, the young mother wanted to reveal to her community how her childbirth had gone.

It is through a video posted on his YouTube channel that the mother of Mathys and Louane told everything. It all started on November 15, around 4am. She has received a call from his mother who was not well at all and who had been waiting for the Samu for a while. Panicked, she drove home. But meanwhile, his mother was taken to hospital. Roxane evokes a “catastrophic care. And she was all the more worried because she didn’t know what she was suffering from.

Around 11 a.m., she learned that his mother was going to the operating room for an intestinal obstruction. At that moment, Roxane sensed that something was happening. She went to see her midwife who made her understand that thechildbirth was imminent. “I burst into tears. I told myself that I could not give birth today. (…) I remember that I squeezed my legs so that the bag of waters did not pierce“, she said. Once back home, she did not move so that the work would not start. At 5 p.m., after five hours of operation, her mother sent her a message to give her news. “She avoided the worst, we were very scared“, said the young woman.

Roxane went to see her at the hospital, something to reassure her. And, as soon as she got out, she started having contractions every five minutes. She left herself an hour and a half to see if the delivery was really close. She then went to the maternity ward and learned that she was having real contractions and that she was on two fingers. Around midnight, they went away to her surprise and three hours later, she felt none. She feared a long labor and was therefore living her nightmare.

Childbirth without an epidural

Later, Roxane met the midwife who was going to deliver her. And she explained to him that she was thinking of trying to give birth without an epidural. Then we have him pierced the bag of waters, which caused the contractions to return, which became increasingly painful. She was able to count on Loïc’s support to give her strength. “But very quickly I a pain that I do not know, hyper violent in the pelvis. (…) I feel my baby coming down. (…) I can’t breathe anymore“, she said. A moment that lasted more than thirty minutes.

Despite everything, Roxane did not wish to have the epidural. “Fear took over and it increased my pain a thousandfold. I went from very great pain to extreme pain. I saw myself dying“, she explained. Traumatized because she had the impression that no one was helping her, just before giving life to Eden, she had the impression of finding herself alone in the world, that we could not didn’t understand her. She was screaming that she was going to die and wanted to kick everything that happened.”I told myself that I was losing my mind, I was going hysterical. I had lost control of my body, it was freaking me out“, she confided.

For the first time, Roxane experienced the urge to push uncontrollably. A terrifying moment. “I had this intense burning sensation that wouldn’t stop. I was screaming so loud I felt like I felt every vessel in my face explode“, she told to talk about her delivery. But when her husband told her that she was not pushing for nothing, because he saw the baby’s head, she no longer had pain. She forgot everything and Eden was born, a moment that will remain engraved forever.
