François Hollande commented on Mouv’ on Wednesday May 29 about the auction of his old scooter for an amount of 20,500 euros last weekend in Indre-et-Loire. “I have other personal property that I can make available for rummage sales if necessary,” the former president had fun on the air. Such a price can show, according to François Hollande, that “It shows attachment.” According to him, there is “an overvaluation of the tool itself, new is less expensive”he comments with humor.

More seriously, François Hollande indicated that it was an act “private” and that he did not have “no further comments to make” on this sale which took place on Sunday at the Château d’Artigny, in Montbazon. However, he himself had dedicated the scooter to an individual who had purchased it and used it on his wedding day: “To Patrick and Manola who had the chance to ride my scooter to better share their happiness. Kind regards. This scooter is the right one”.

The 125 cc Piaggio was priced at 10,000 euros. This scooter was made famous when François Hollande secretly visited the actress Julie Gayet, whom he has since married. “It’s a part of French history”, laughed Denis Breheret, the buyer, a car enthusiast, contacted by telephone during the sale. It will now be exhibited in a private museum dedicated to automobiles in Maine-et-Loire.
