For its exceptional number, Gala decided to give the microphone to the stars of French show business in order to collect their secrets on how they live or have lived their celebrity and its impact on personal life. Mylène Farmer thus evoked her unsuspected friendship with an American actor, Béatrice Dalle her divorce from her first husband and Isabelle Adjani her career mixed with her loves. The singer Michael Jones has also indulged in a few confessions.
It is through his friendship and his fruitful collaboration with Jean-Jacques Goldman – regularly cited as the favorite singer of the French by the classification of the JDD – that Michael Jones has gained great popularity in music. The Welsh artist, now 70, admits that it has been beneficial for him, including in his private life. “I can date exactly the day my life changed. In 1985, after the release of I give you in duet with Jean-Jacques Goldman, the attitude of others has changed. For example, I had less trouble getting credit from the bank. And they offered to give me instruments, clothes. Before, I had to save to buy guitars!“, he thus confided to Gala.
Michael Jones therefore appreciates having been able to count on his status to obtain a loan to buy a home, but notoriety has never gone to his head. “Fame hasn’t changed me: I never go to fashionable places, I live in the countryside, near Lyon. Jean-Jacques Goldman and I wanted to sing the meeting of two cultures, of two horizons. Jean-Jacques the Frenchman [qui habite entre Londres et Marseille, NDLR], and me from Wales. Like him, I think that if you want to write songs, you shouldn’t get away from real life, stay as close as possible to people (…) Besides, I don’t know how he does it to avoid contact with the public. Me, I can’t, I can never“, he added.
