“I don’t inspire that much”, the grandson of Jean-Paul Belmondo frankly sad not to play more in the cinema

So, even being “son of” or “grandson of”, that doesn’t open all the doors. Victor Belmondo

is proof incarnate.
At the microphone of RTL

this Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the 30-year-old artist indeed spoke of the difficulties he encounters in being selected while passing the castings for certain projects. However, the grandson of Jean-Paul Belmondo was able to be highlighted a few months ago in the biopic dedicated to Brigitte Bardot broadcast on France 2 in May 2023, and Netflix from August.

In this project, Paul Belmondo’s son played Roger Vadim, one of Brigitte Bardot’s four husbands. “I watched interviews, reports, documentaries”he indicated to our colleagues at Point of view to explain how he prepared for this role, before continuing: “I saw his films and read what he had written. But the intention was never mimetic: I did not want to become Vadim, I gave an interpretation of him.” Even if the audiences did not reach the expected figures, the biopic was still praised by critics.

Victor Belmondo, despite his name, he does not have access to all projects

However, despite his great performance in this project, it does not seem to be enough to open new doors for him. In any case, this is what he told our RTL colleagues this Tuesday at the Alpe d’Huez Festival, present to promote the film. She & him & the rest of the world” in which he plays. Victor Belmondo recognizes that, for some time, he has felt an evolution in his career: “especially on the quantity of projects that can be offered to me”.

Despite everything, he recognizes that he “does not inspire” enough directors for the moment. “I don’t think so. Besides, it’s true that there are indeed projects that I’m offered to which I can say yes or no but I still go through a lot of castings. I’m very far from being at the point of certain actors who simply make the films they want and end up on the films they decide”he continues before revealing: “Me there are films that I would have loved to make and that I didn’t get to… So I don’t inspire that much in the end.”.

“Even you can miss castings. That can reassure people”, then retorted the journalist. To which the main person concerned confessed and admitted “missing castings” but that it was part of the “game” of his profession.
