“I am clearly privileged”

It has already been almost three years since Marie-Sophie Lacarrau has held her position as presenter of the 1 p.m. television news on TF1. Long considered as a simple replacement for Jean-Pierre Pernaut, the journalist managed to make her mark and put herself in charge of this meeting which is so important for the French.

In an interview with the magazine TV Star this Saturday October 14, 2023, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau spoke about her arrival on TF1, she who previously worked within the group France Televisions. “I quickly enjoyed it a lot, and it continues. JI am delighted every morning to hear my alarm go off at 6 a.m., to know that I will meet my team at 7:30 a.m. to think about the topics we are going to propose. I enjoy thinking about this journal, writing it and bringing it to the air.” she declared.

Marie-Sophie Lacarrau was then questioned about the criticism from viewers accusing her of having damaged the legacy left by Jean-Pierre Pernaut in this time slot. I don’t understand these comments! I did not seek to dynamite the heritage, but we have evolved this newspaper with new formats. Wouldn’t that be journalism? But what do we do then? When I see our very good start to the school year, the best since 2019 with an average of 4.5 million viewers, I think that if we did not renew, we would not obtain such scores!”

Finally, the 48-year-old journalist who is the mother of two boys spoke about her salary, she being one of the highest paid French journalists. “I am clearly privileged and I am aware of it” she simply stated. According to several sources, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau receives a monthly salary of €30,000. Jean-Pierre Pernaut, who presented this newspaper for more than 30 years, earned €50,000 per month.
