A new poll by tech firm Cisco suggests that nearly half of Canadian workers fear being viewed less favorably if they work remotely in a hybrid work model.
The survey, which Cisco conducted with pollster Angus Reid, found that 46% of Canadians believe that employees who work in company offices might have more opportunities to advance their careers than someone working in a company. distance.
However, 77% of those surveyed said flexibility is a key factor that will be part of their decisions to stay or leave a company.
Shannon Leininger, president of Cisco Canada, believes the results show just how important it is for employers to form a workplace culture that supports both remote employees and those working in person.
She said teams need to come together to define what hybrid work really means in their office, as the work model differs from employer to employer.
Mme Leninger also said managers will need to figure out what their premises will look like in a hybrid workspace and decide whether individual desks will be replaced with larger collaboration and meeting areas.
