Hurricane Otis in Mexico: in Acapulco, at least 27 people lost their lives

In the first images of the seaside resort of Acapulco (Mexico), captured after the passage of Hurricane Otis, the city’s stadium, hotels and shopping centers are heavily affected. Entire sections collapsed. According to an initial report, there are 27 dead. From his gutted hotel room, a man films. “It’s impossible, it’s not possible, Acapulco is destroyed”, he laments. These scenes are repeated from one building to another. The ceiling of a 4-star hotel collapsed. The hall is transformed into fields of ruins. There are no more communication networks, no more electricity, no more transport. Residents and tourists find themselves isolated. In the supermarkets, it’s chaos trying to collect some food. The highway leading from Mexico City to Acapulco was destroyed by a massive landslide. So, barefoot and in the mud, many now seek to escape by walking hundreds of kilometers.
