hundreds of people gathered in Paris around the party of Eric Zemmour

The circumstances of Lola’s death and the profile of the suspect, of Algerian nationality, have made the drama a political issue for the far right. Hundreds of people gathered at the beginning of the evening, Thursday, October 20, in Paris, in the presence in particular of Eric Zemmour and at the call of the “Institute for justice”, a reputable association close to the president of Reconquest! . In addition to the former presidential candidate, three of his supporters, Nicolas Bay, Guillaume Peltier and Marion Maréchal, were also present at this rally that the organizers wanted “non-partisan”.

Other rallies took place in France. In Lyon (Rhône), more than 300 people gathered around 7 p.m. in front of the Rhône Assize Court, at the call in particular of the traditionalist micro-party VIA69. In Metz (Moselle), nearly 100 people, including some from local far-right groups (Cocarde Lorraine, Action Française, etc.), gathered in the evening and laid flowers and candles in front of the portrait of Lola, at the foot of Saint-Etienne cathedral, after a minute of silence.

In the crowd, some demonstrators carried placards on which appeared the inscription “Lola could have been our little sister”or “laxity kills”, whereas the far right and the right have criticized the government, in the light of this news item, for poor management of irregular immigration.

“We want the death penalty restored for child killers”, chanted one of the participants in the Parisian demonstration in a megaphone, to applause. The rally began with a moment of silence, then several people followed one another on the stage to discuss the case of other crimes “which could have been avoided”for this gathering.

The National Rally, which was initially to participate in the rally, finally organized a minute of silence at the same time in front of the National Assembly “in tribute to Lola and in support of her family and loved ones”. Refuting any desire for recovery, the leader of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen, then declared that a “minute of silence [n’était] never a political recovery, it is a tribute”.
