Hugo pop! | Survivor takes off in the (woven bamboo) carpet!

Obstruction against the opposing team, an almost shocking theft of equipment, paramedics in deep trouble, resentment that fuels revenge, crushing heat strokes and alliances formed quickly, quickly, quickly, the first episode of Survivor Quebec 2 takes the same accelerated rhythm as the voice of its host, Patrice Bélanger.

Like in a pot of white rice, a lot can be brewed in 90 minutes. Noovo will relay this busy episode on Sunday at 8 p.m., immediately after the victory of Charles Hamelin or Danick Martineau at Big Brother Celebrities.

At the end of the show, the tribal council, which serves to eliminate the player least useful to his team, takes place in a chaotic and panicky manner. Who are we voting for, who is targeting her, come on, say her name! The pleading eyes of the flock meet those of their self-proclaimed leader, who leads the charge against a person deemed problematic.

And it negotiates hard. Rarely have we seen so much whispering and negotiation so early in the game, which lasts 42 days, in the thick jungle of the Philippines.

The personality of the 20 new castaways (ten men, ten women) also emerges very quickly. A competitor, Audrey, 36, a fashion entrepreneur from Blainville, immediately defines herself as the “first villain of Survivor Quebec “. On camera, it’s more her sparkling side that seduces: “laser, injections, pedicure and lash lift”, I’m ready for adventure, she laughs.

35-year-old comedian and environmental technologist Anabelle, who stands 6’4, boasts an intelligence quotient of 157. Red flag! HAS Survivor Quebecsocial intelligence is often more important than logical-mathematical intelligence, let’s not forget that.

The mayor of Amos, Sébastien D’Astous, 47, is doing really well. On the other hand, he hides his profession as a politician from his comrades, not wanting to wear the label of “Mr. Mayor” throughout the season. Several other candidates will imitate him by keeping silent about entire areas of their personal or professional life, so as not to draw a giant target on their backs.

Aged 29, Dominic, a video game broadcaster on Twitch, describes himself as a geek fan of dragons and wizards, but also a big irresponsible sloth. He’s a tough little guy whose slobbery personality could play some nasty tricks on him.

Another “character” stands out from the others: Olivier, 33, from Jonquière, a painter who wears a large straw hat and a fire engine red speedo. Olivier tries to remain silent and blend into the background, which proves to be a dismal failure.

Two retirees were selected for the second edition of this popular reality show from Noovo. The intense André, 65 years old, from Mirabel, is so passionate about life that he has lost all his teeth (he proudly shows off his dentures in the first episode). A resident of Lac-Beauport, Caroline, 59, has run a half marathon, does crossfit three times a week and has climbed to Everest base camp. Caroline known as the legend is the mother of Sansdrick Lavoie, one of the star singles ofDouble occupancy Bali.

Among the strong faces of the 2024 vintage, we find the ultra-competitive Jean-Michel, 32 years old, psychology teacher from Moncton, New Brunswick, as well as Ghyslain, 29 years old, real estate entrepreneur and father of three young children, Vaudreuil-Dorion. These two will be ones to watch. Ghyslain could even become this season’s Jean-Junior, minus the guru side.

Like Joël last year, Raphaël, 26, from Sainte-Thérèse, ranks in the category of “superfans” of Survivor and even hosts a podcast show devoted to his great passion for real-life television.

A high-level swimmer, Florence, 24, works as a “cognitive trainer”. A job that sounds good in a show where you have to convince and manipulate. And Desneiges, 33, a communications advisor from Montreal, is the first person with a disability in Survivor Quebec : she was born with one missing forearm.

This year, the blue bandanas are playing for the Bayani tribe and the orange bandanas are competing for the Nawa clan. In the first seconds of the reward event, tension rises and low blows – never seen before in Survivor Quebec – are exchanged.

In the immunity challenge, the most important, we are treated to reversals, exhaustions and an epic coronation that makes us pump the potato.

As Patrice Bélanger would say in his army green safari shirt: welcome to Survivor Quebec ! Add slow-motion footage taken with a drone here.

I levitate

With the final of Red bracelets to VAT

It makes no sense to bring so many tears to our eyes in 60 minutes. No joke, I had puffy eyes for 24 hours. The scene where the Bracelets gang gently said goodbye to Justin (Antoine L’Écuyer) was heartbreaking. This final episode was also bathed in light with the remission of the brave and smiling Félix (Anthony Therrien), finally in remission after four years of suffering. A magnificent finale, which crowns an extremely moving final season (heart sign with hands).

I avoid it

Star renovations

Don’t get me wrong. I love Christine Beaulieu on TV (long live The eye of the storm), Béatrice Martin in my ears and Marie-Eve Janvier on the radio. From there to following these artists in the never-simple renovations, what a mess!, of their condo, their chalet or their house, it tempts me to do so. No thanks to their minor problems of very financially comfortable people. If I were being very bad faith, I would point out the “bad timing” of these shows which are arriving at a time when Quebec is experiencing an unprecedented housing crisis. But I won’t go there, anyway.
