Eternal PFAS pollutants are used by manufacturers for their non-stick or waterproofing properties. However, they pollute water, air and soil for centuries.

PFAS, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, have polluted drinking water, air and soil for centuries. These eternal pollutants, based on carbon and fluorine, are used by manufacturers for their non-stick or waterproofing properties in textiles, food packaging and kitchen utensils. In addition to the risk of pollution, PFAS pose a threat to health.

The SEB group protests against the ban

Some manufacturers, such as the household appliances group SEB, are protesting against a general ban on PFAS. “Tefal products, like all those from SEB, do not contain PFAS considered harmful to health or the environment by health authorities”, defended Thierry de la Tour d’Artaise, CEO of the SEB group. MEPs will vote on Thursday April 4 on the ban on the manufacture and sale of products containing PFAS.
