Writing is a French particularity, according to the results of the survey Le Figaro Littéraire/Odoxa made in 2022, 12 million French people have already thought about writing a book, but only 2.5 million have taken the plunge.

This survey also reveals that “In the age of the internet and social networks, the French remain deeply attached to writing, in all its forms: letters, diaries, personal notes… 79% of French people like to write (this rate even reaches 84% ​​among women). An activity that affects all generations. And particularly young people, 36% of 18-24 year olds say they write regularly.”

The author of “60 Minutes to Learn to Write a Story” draws on her experiences as a trainer and screenwriter, training exercises and anecdotes. Sophie Cavaliero lays out the fundamentals of storytelling and illustrates the different stages of the creative process:

Before working on the narrative structure, for me, a good story is good characters. So, first thing to create, good characters and a coherent universe, in relation to these characters. I start with the example of a private detective or a police officer, and this is how we can create characters.”
