Avoiding huge traffic jams and motivating supporters is the objective of the Girondins de Bordeaux and the Union Bordeaux Bègles. Both clubs are playing at home Sunday May 1, the only non-working day of the public holiday year and therefore without public transport in Bordeaux metropolis. After the surprise, it was necessary to organize to facilitate the arrival of the supporters because the two matches have a major stake. The UBB rugby players want to hold on to their second place to stay at the top of the Top 14 table and go directly to the finals. Bordeaux footballers must seize one of the last chances to stay in Ligue 1. The two clubs and the supporters have therefore found various ways to organize themselves to facilitate travel to the Chaban Delmas and Matmut Atlantique stadiums. .
How to get to the Matmut Atlantique stadium at 5 p.m. to see the Girondins host Nice:
- Carpooling. The Girondins de Bordeaux club has set up apartnership with Popsleigh where carpoolers and passengers can register for free. And to encourage supporters to share their vehicle, the parking will be free in the P2 car park from four people in a car (free admission until 4 p.m.). A factor not to be forgotten: certain districts of Bordeaux center will be concerned by the car-free day because it is the first Sunday of the month (the surroundings of the Matmut Atlantique stadium are not concerned). Look on the website of the city of Bordeaux to check the roads concerned.
- A free shuttle from and to four Gironde municipalities. This is not a special device for May Day. For four games, the club has put free shuttles in place to motivate supporters to go to the stadium. These serve La Teste de Buch, Lesparre, Langon and Libourne.
- For motorized or non-motorized two-wheelers, 800 places will be reserved south of the stadium, avenue de la Jallère. The club also organizes a contest. People arriving on two wheels between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. can try to win a 140-year collector’s jersey autographed by the players.
How to get to Chaban Delmas to see UBB-Toulon at 9 p.m.:
- Carpooling. The UBB has set up a partnership with Karos app who developed a dedicated page and QR code for Sunday’s game. The supporters of the United BB group have, for their part, created a also dedicated page on the website covoit.net where car owners can register their journey and the number of seats available. People looking for carpooling can also enter their starting point. There are already several routes offered from Cenon, Périgueux or Biscarosse. Parking side, the surroundings of the Chaban Delmas stadium are already difficult to access by car in normal times. This is why the club has strengthened its partnership with METPARK, which will offer special offer at 5 euros (instead of 12€) for the UBB match on three car parks: Meriadeck, May 8, 1945 and Medoc Front. On the other hand, the car park Bordeaux Gate is not part of this offer.
- As far as soft transport is concerned, the UBB has also formed a partnership with the company DOTT, which offers self-service scooters and bicycles. 400 bicycles and 100 scooters will be placed around the three car parks of the Metpark offer with the first 30 minutes free to go to the game, same for the return. In terms of parkingspaces will be reserved for two-wheelers throughout theAvenue du Parc Lescurein addition to the bicycle parking between the boulevards and Place Johnston and the motorcycle parking between the Charles Perrens roundabout and Place Johnston.
- To motivate the supporters who will park around Mériadeck, the UBB has asked the supporters’ clubs to organize a procession behind the Leo mascot at 7:30 p.m. between the Mériadeck ice rink and the Chaban Delmas stadium.
