What to eat on Christmas Eve? A question and a real headache for many French people during this festive period. It is advisable to propose a menu taking into account the eating habits and the tastes of each one.

Gastronomic pleasure, sharing and communion. This is what the Christmas dinner is supposed to represent. But its preparation is not always so simple and many French people have to rack their brains. You have to develop a menu, sometimes with different diets: vegans, flexitarians, gluten or lactose intolerant, for example. “You just need to get along well. Everyone announces their preferences and that’s it, it’s settled”, says a man interviewed in a market.

If traditional dishes do not suit some diners, there are now new solutions. In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), a vegan grocery store offers foie gras without liver, pâté without meat or even cheese without milk. Some French people might turn to organic, vegan and gluten-free logs for dessert. A chef also uses vegetable milks and agar-agar as a gelling agent. In his vegetable pastry, orders are very numerous. A way, too, to revisit the Christmas classics.
