How to avoid getting norovirus?

The norovirus is characterized by vomiting, diarrhea and pain and cramps in the stomach, can we read on the site of the government of Canada.

But how to avoid it? As with the majority of viruses, good hand hygiene remains an effective solution to scare away germs.

“Wash your hands after using the bathroom, before eating or cooking,” says Dr.D Rachael Lee, in an interview with Heathline.

The expert adds that frequent disinfection of surfaces in the house can also help avoid norovirus.

Besides, while hand sanitizer is helpful in repelling germs, alcohol-based ones might not work for norovirus.

“It’s best to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds,” adds the DD Lee.

The CDC* reports that fruits and vegetables, seafood should also be thoroughly washed and stayed home for at least two days after symptoms end.

In addition, the American organization suggests avoiding cooking for others when afflicted with the virus in order to stop its spread.
