Authorities are calling for caution during high tides on Saturday, September 21. Three people were found drowned on Thursday on the coast in Charente-Maritime.
The high tides have already killed three men, Thursday, September 19, trapped by the highest coefficients of the summer. This Saturday, on a beach in Côtes-d’Armor, a team of volunteers is doing prevention. Usually, it is a matter of ensuring that the sizes of the shellfish caught are respected. This weekend, they are insisting on safety. “There are always accidents, unfortunately, often during high tides, with people being caught out by the rising tide.”warns one of them.
Here are some tips for caution: leave before the sea rises, warn your loved ones before each outing and know the emergency numbers. 196 puts you in direct contact with the CROSS, which coordinates safety operations at sea. It is especially important not to overestimate yourself, whatever your experience.
