(France 2)
More than 804,000 state-guaranteed loans have been granted since 2020. They have been one of the shock absorbers of the Covid crisis. Where are we currently in terms of reimbursements? Update with journalist Chloé Tixier, present on the set of 20 Heures, Friday March 8.
State-guaranteed loans (PGE) were one of the shock absorbers of the Covid crisis. How many companies took up this proposition at the time? “There are more than 804,000 PGE granted since 2020. Loans which made it possible to save thousands of businesses at the time of the health crisis. In total, 144.8 billion euros were released by the ‘State”explains journalist Chloé Tixier, present on the set of 20 Heures, Friday March 8.
Some sectors more in difficulty
“According to the latest count from the Ministry of the Economy, there are still nearly 68 billion euros to repay. This means that a little more than half of these loans have been repaid by companies”, continues the journalist. Chloé Tixier then indicates that it is especially in small businesses, which were already in debt before the health crisis, particularly in the hotel and catering industry, commerce or construction, that difficulties are resurfacing today when it comes time to repay. “The State has just extended the repayment period. Companies now have until 2026” to repay, adds the journalist.
