How will the Russian troops, who have taken possession of several cities, try to consolidate their power on a daily basis? For several days, Kherson or at Melitopolthe Ukrainians do not hesitate to defy the occupier, despite the ban on demonstrations.

Firing from automatic weapons heard in the distance did not stop the demonstrators, determined to demand the departure of the Russian soldiers. On the tenth day of occupation of Kherson (Ukraine), it is also the tenth day of protest by the inhabitants. “Millions of citizens come to treat them as occupiers, and tell them that we want to remain a Ukrainian city”, explains a father. Since the arrival of the Russians, the city is almost deserted and surrounded. It is impossible to leave or enter.

“They are holding the siege, there is no resupply being done (…) when we find something, it’s a three-hour queue”, deplores René, a French expatriate. Many stores are closed because employees are afraid to go to work. Garbage cans are also rarely picked up. The municipality is trying to overcome the food shortage. In Melitopol (Ukraine), the mayor was removed and then replaced by a pro-Russian elected official, who calls on the inhabitants to collaborate. This is unthinkable for some Ukrainians who still dare to protest.
