The event will bring together nearly 300 people on August 26 at the Sheraton Laval Convention Centre. Actors from several backgrounds will be present for the occasion: mayors of large cities, other elected municipal officials, provincial and federal politicians, representatives of the institutional sector, community groups and speakers.
“Everyone municipal in Quebec will be reunited, it’s a great victory to work together,” rejoiced Stéphane Boyer, during a press conference held Monday morning, behind the city hall of Longueuil. .
During the summit, he plans to look at how we can “better control the explosion in the price of rent”, a problem that now affects “the whole of Quebec”.
Catherine Fournier, for her part, points out that to achieve real estate “market affordability”, at least 620,000 new homes must be built in Quebec by 2030.
For the moment, the summit must only be held this year, but the two elected officials open the door to reusing the concept “if it is a success”.
