In 2002, thousands of children shouted his first name in the same way as those of Nolwenn, Emma, Jérémy or even Anne-Laure. Houcine Camara was indeed part of the second promotion of the Star Academy. And Georges-Alain’s great roommate has marked this edition since he came close to victory, only failing in the final ahead of Nolwenn Leroy. Almost twenty years after his vocal exploits at the Château de Dammarie-les-Lys, the former Star Ac’ resident came to talk about his best memories on the set of TPMP People Saturday April 23, 2022. Alongside Jean-Pascal Lacoste, Maude, Carine Haddadou and former castle theater teacher Oscar Sisto, Houcine remembered his most beautiful duets shared with an assembly of international stars. Phil Collins, Lionel Richie, Ray Charles or even Mariah Carey have indeed pushed the song with the finalist of the second vintage. And if the latter is grateful to the program for having allowed him to meet these immense stars, one of them nevertheless seems to have left him with a more bitter memory.
Houcine recounts this surreal encounter with Jennifer Lopez
“I think that with Jennifer Lopez, it was not phew, phew…“, launched the columnist Déborah Tordjman. “It was special with Jennifer Lopez. Nikos announces that I have to take the plane the next day. I arrive in front of Jennifer Lopez, I am told ‘What you are wearing, she doesn’t like it, so you have to change your clothes’. So they bring me clothes. Then I’m told, ‘You’re going to go on stage, she’s going to come, you don’t look at her, you look over her shoulder and you recite your lines, she’s going to answer you‘”, he explained. And to continue on this meeting for once quite surreal: “We had to spend more time together and it was super short. Her manager tells me, ‘If she kisses you, you don’t touch her skin. Well yes, but how do I do it?“, remembered the former candidate of the Star Academy.
