Last April, Fred Musa, Mehdi Maïzi and Fif were the guests of the show Dans la Gova signed Booska-P. During this episode, the host of Planet Rap had a few anecdotes to tell, in particular two, which concerned Diam’s and one of his most famous hits: The Dumpling.
“Can you imagine that on La Boulette, we are in October-November 2005, the album will be released in 2006, Diam’s leaves the studio saying to its producers (Tefa, DJ Maître, Diam’s, Skread and Elio, editor’s note), ‘I want a piece that blows up because I only have slow pieces”he explained before going on to say. “Diam’s goes and says she wants the sound the next day. Everyone in the studio is like, ‘we’re still going to play a little joke on her and put a piano on her (that we hear in the introduction of the title, editor’s note). The next day, Mélanie arrives in the studio, they (the producers) start putting the sound on, she gets angry. ‘No, it’s not possible, you’re kidding me.’ having been calmed down, she was the piece in stride”.
Fred Musa also revealed being behind one of the title’s punchlines. “I wrote with Diams ‘There is too much demagoguery in Sarko’s mouth'”he recalled. “On the Boulette, she works with a lot of people, Sinik, Vitaa, and for a moment, she is there looking for, ‘there are too many demagogues…’, and there I say ‘in Sarko’s mouth (…) We had just come out of this story of karcher, of the death of Bouna and Zied (two young people who died on October 27, 2005 by electrocution, editor’s note) it was horrible…” From 6:50 p.m.:
This single released in 2006 appears on his third studio album, In my bubble. Ranked number 1 in sales when it was released in 2006, the song sold 650,000 copies in one year and was crowned “French song of the year” at the NRJ Music Awards.
