“An overloaded van lost control and fell into a ravine” in Agua Fria, about 60 km east of the capital Tegucigalpa, police official Miguel Martinez Madrid told AFP.
Nearly 110,000 migrants, mostly Cubans, Venezuelans and Haitians, have crossed Honduras since the start of the year en route to the United States, according to official figures. Last year, only 17,590 migrant crossings were recorded.
