Despite the Covid-19, the very mild temperatures pushed many French people to go to the seaside after a New Year’s Eve weekend.

On the beaches of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), it floats like a summer air Sunday, December 26. The sun is shining in the Marseille city, a real treat for tourists. “The children don’t even wear coats”, emphasizes a father. In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), paddle boarders are not afraid of the deep end, even if the water is at 14 degrees. Sailing on the water is a refreshing moment and a way “to forget the pandemic”.

Further north, in Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), families keep taking souvenir photos. “We are suffocating in Paris, here we breathe the good air”, enthuses a vacationer. The streets of the city center of the Corsair city are full of customers, to the delight of tourism professionals. “Last year in November, we were closed”, remembers a shopkeeper. Despite the masks and the health crisis, the French are determined to take advantage of their holidays.
