The traffic maintenance coordinator who was seriously injured after being hit by a motorist last week in Montreal succumbed to his injuries last Monday.

This was confirmed by the SPVM to TVA Nouvelles on Wednesday morning.
The driver allegedly tried to cross the construction site in the opposite direction at the corner of boulevard Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Industriel in Pointe-aux-Trembles, on the evening of July 12, overturning Maxime Béland in his trajectory.

A traffic signalman, Fabrizio Altieri, was hit by the car at the same time. Mr. Béland was thrown head first to the ground. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

The 68-year-old fugitive presented himself at a Montreal police station, where he was questioned by investigators before being released.
No charges have been filed against him at this time.
