In Hauts-de-Seine, the town of Vaucresson voted to 47.8% for Emmanuel Macron, against 12.9% for the Republican candidate Valérie Pécresse, in the first round of the presidential election, Sunday April 10. However, in 2017, half of voters chose the candidate Republicans at the time Francois Fillon.
To Vaucresson (Hauts-de-Seine)an affluent residential town west of Paris, we have always voted for the right. In 2017, the Republican candidate Francois Fillon had gathered 50% votes in the first round of the presidential election. But, on Sunday April 10, during the first round of the 2022 presidential election, voters voted for Emmanuel Macron by granting him 47% of their voices. This is one of his best scores in France.
A resident of Vaucresson explains that “the European approach” by Emmanuel Macron pleases him. Here, the candidate of the Republicans Valérie Pécresse collected a little less than 13% voices. Right-wing voters therefore preferred Emmanuel Macron. They judge that the outgoing president is reassuring and that he has a good record. His proposal to raise the retirement age to 65, a right-wing marker, is also popular with locals.
