It is the dream of any amateur club: to meet a professional team thanks to the Coupe de France. RC Nilvange was spoiled by the draw for the fifth round of the competition which was held this Wednesday, September 28 since it falls on AS Nancy-Lorraine!
Ten divisions away
There is no less than ten divisions difference between the Moselle club which plays in the second district division, and Nancy, current 6th in the National championship. The match will be played the weekend of October 8 and 9 next.
“That’s wonderful” calm Romain Hunet, the Nilvangeois president, “With all the teams there was, the best thing to do was Nancy!” Before the draw, the crazy hypothesis of a duel with the neighboring region of Murcia and Moselle was only a joke and a bet within the club. “What club can’t dream of falling on Nancy when you’re a district club? Even when you’re from 57 and support FC Metz.”

On what ground?
Undefeated in the league, defeating Distroff (6-1) in the previous round, can RC Nilvange create the feat? “There is a tiny hope even if we have to remain realistic” tempers Romain Hunet who must also tackle the complex organization of such a meeting, especially in terms of security. Contacts have already been made with the town hall, the Prefecture, the Football League and the ASNL to determine the location. Is Stade Noirot de Nilvange suitable? “For the moment it is total blurry” recognizes Romain Hunet who wants to stay close to allow as many supporters as possible to come and support his protect.
