It bends but does not break. Like the reed, Hélène Ségara has shown great courage for several years. The singer, who has also officiated for several seasons in France has an unbelievable talentis indeed suffering from irreversible macular degeneration, which affects his eyes.
This disease obviously handicaps her enormously in her career as she confided to Thomas Sotto on RTL last May. But in addition to his professional life, this problem also causes some worries in those around him. “A lot of people turned their back on me at the most critical moment. At the very beginning, when things started, we were really disarmed, it took a very difficult turn at the start and above all I was told diagnoses that were not good, serious enough”, she revealed very disappointed.
Bad news ?
What should discourage her? Far from there. Last June, Hélène Ségara released a new album entitled Karma, in order to prove that despite her health problems, she could still please her audience and practice her primary profession, which is singing. Despite great courage and incredible mental strength, she sometimes admits to being “defeated”. As when she announced the cancellation of some of her concerts: “After several months of heavy treatments, in the greatest secrecy where I have always tried to keep a smile and honor each of my commitments, I have to resolve to limit my rounds. My new treatment being long and tiring, it would unfortunately be unreasonable and exhausting for me to chain too many concerts in the same week”.
If her fans were hoping that she recovered, her latest Instagram story is enough to raise some questions. Hélène Ségara indeed publishing a rather disturbing sentence in which we could read: “music always has the power to express what I feel inside”. A way to evoke her discomfort and the bad period she is going through? We don’t hope so but it could be…
