For several years, the 51-year-old artist has been the subject of violent criticism on his physique, whose changes do not escape viewers.Each TV appearance is a source of derogatory comments on the Web on which Hélène Ségara has no choice but to fall.
Inside the pages of the new issue of the magazine We boththe mother of Raphaël, 32, Matteo, 19, and Maya, 18, revealed that she suffered greatly from these gratuitous criticisms while she was in the midst of the fight against the disease: “Grossophobia, I suffered it because of a year where I took a treatment based on high doses of cortisone. Even when eating lightly, it is difficult to avoid weight gain.”
However, Hélène Ségara does not make a whole story out of it and prefers to put things into perspective in this case: “The times when I’m complexed or bad about myself, because I’m a woman like the others, I try to reassure myself by telling myself that it won’t last.“Her mental strength, she also draws it from those close to her and from the people who love her:”I believe that it is in the most difficult moments that we reveal ourselves, that we discover who we are, what we are capable of. Our mind has influence on our cells, I am convinced of it.”
This conviction allows Hélène Ségara to fight against her optic neuritis, a rare ocular autoimmune disease “with smile“: “It is important to remain dignified and not to complain when we know that, every day, people suffer or have to face war. My health problems are not what will change the face of the world. I never positioned myself as a victim. I just want to say that we have the right to have moments of down and that it is not a shame to be tired, to be different physically because we have to take heavy treatments.“A strong message that we hope went well!
