The heat wave that affects France complicates the living conditions of the most precarious people, such as homeless people. Report in Toulouse, in Haute-Garonne, where the Red Cross carries out daily marauding.
To 10am, Mostefa Benyousshomeless (homeless)leaves a Toulouse Red Cross accommodation center (Upper Garonne)as the structure partially closes its doors during the day. So, to survive the heat, he goes to a shopping center to take advantage of the air conditioning. In the city center, the Red Cross has begun its marauding. The heat wave plan has not yet been launched, but with the early onset of strong heat, the association has taken the lead.
The association can count on its 600 Toulouse volunteers for its daily patrols: a welcome help for the homeless. “I try to find the shade. (…) Because in full sun, it is not possible. Fortunately, there are people who are there for us”testifies Antoine, homeless. “We are on people who do not necessarily dare to come forward and go to the help points”explains Juliette Guillaume, director of general resources and logistics at the Toulouse Red Cross.
