Without surprise, Civil War dominated the Quebec box office last weekend. However, the symphonic film on the music of Harmonium rose to second place.
The recording of the concert Story without words: Symphonic Harmonium took in nearly $300,000 at the box office during its first weekend on the big screen, about $80,000 less than the blockbuster Civil War ($377,000) starring Kirsten Dunst.
The success of the film based on Harmonium’s music encouraged its producers to extend its theatrical run, which was only supposed to last one weekend. It will be on display again from April 18 to 21, throughout Quebec.
The other films of top 5 are, in order: Godzilla x King Kong: The New Empire, Dune: Part Two And Kung Fu Panda 4. The second part of Dunedirected by Denis Villeneuve, exceeded 8 million box office receipts in Quebec.
