(Montreal) Three other men were injured and taken to hospital after two separate incidents of gun violence that occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Montreal.
Posted at 9:00 a.m.
Two 22-year-old men were located by the police near the intersection of Crescent and Sainte-Catherine Streets West. One was injured in the lower body by a stab while the other was the victim of assault, said spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Comtois.
A police officer had been notified earlier, around 2:30 a.m., that a person had been seen with a firearm in this sector of the Ville-Marie borough.
Both men were taken to hospital, where their lives are not believed to be in danger.
A suspect was arrested and an air gun was found, says the SPVM. It would be a conflict that degenerated.
Later, around 3:55 a.m., while the police were still at the crime scene, a 27-year-old man presented himself to a policewoman. He had a stab wound to the upper body.
He was taken to a hospital and his state of health is unknown on Sunday morning.
This man was allegedly injured in a dispute near Crescent Street, possibly in an alley.
The SPVM points out that the two events do not seem to be linked. The investigation is continuing.
Gunshots in Rivière-des-Prairies
In addition, shots were heard in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood around 12:15 a.m.
A vehicle was traveling on André-Ampère Avenue, near Joseph-Tassé Avenue, when shots were fired in its direction, reports the SPVM.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his thirties, was not injured.
A suspect reportedly fled on foot.
Several casings were found on the ground and impacts of projectiles were observed on the vehicle, specifies the agent Comtois.
