Grumbling at the CAQ | Éric Duhaime reaches out to caquist Luc Provençal

(Quebec) The leader of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) is taking advantage of the discontent in the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) caucus to reach out to dissatisfied elected government officials. Éric Duhaime invites the “disappointed Caquists” to take the plunge into his training and addresses in particular the Beauceron MP Luc Provençal.

“Luc Provençal is one of the most conservative in the CAQ deputation. He would do useful work for democracy by joining us in finally giving a voice to 530,000 voters,” said Éric Duhaime in an interview with The Press.

The CAQ MP for Beauce-Nord said Tuesday that he was unhappy with the multi-million subsidy paid for the Los Angeles Kings to come to Quebec for preparatory matches. “It’s against my values,” said Mr. Provençal.

The oldest member of the National Assembly had also publicly expressed his dissatisfaction when his own government abandoned the idea of a third motorway link.

Éric Duhaime thinks that the CAQ should finally make the jump with the conservatives. He recalls that in the last elections, Mr. Provençal only won with 202 votes ahead of conservative candidate Olivier Dumais. Mr. Duhaime affirms that the CAQ was able to win this constituency only thanks to the strength of the Provençal candidate.

“If we had an election tomorrow in Beauce, we would win, that’s for sure,” believes Mr. Duhaime. “If it hadn’t been for Luc Provençal, we would already have a deputy in Beauce-Nord. It would have democratic legitimacy to cross. »

The PCQ is still looking for a first member of the National Assembly. Éric Duhaime therefore hopes for the defection of a CAQ elected official, who would follow in the footsteps of former Iberville MP Claire Samson.

“All disappointed CAQ members, who are like us against subsidies to billionaire teams and who want to reduce the tax burden on taxpayers, are welcome to the PCQ,” reiterated Éric Duhaime on Wednesday.

“I speak to everyone, except Éric Caire, because I think he has lost all his credibility” in the third link case, judge Mr. Duhaime. “You can’t lie so openly.” You can’t put your seat on the line on the third link and stay in place… He fooled his voters. I can’t accept this. »

Two CAQ deputies publicly criticized Tuesday the decision to grant public funds for Kings matches. Wednesday, a Pallas Data poll/News indicates that the CAQ is in free fall in voting intentions. In the Quebec region, the CAQ is now fourth and the PCQ second, behind the PQ.
