To make exist its own parliamentary group within Nupes… For the ecologists, the step is still laborious. While Europe Ecologie – Les Verts (EELV) is bringing together its deputies in Montévrain (Seine-et-Marne) this week for a “team building” seminar, one of them admits: “There are little jealousies, little mistakes”.

Dissension that is well illustrated, for example, by the choice of allocation of the offices of deputies elected to the Assembly. They are dispatched to three different sites. The best locations – which are near the hemicycle, the collaborators, the refreshment bar – are reserved for the few ecologist deputies already present during the last legislature… But also – and this is what poses a problem according to an EELV executive – in the clan of the group’s co-president, Julien Bayou, deputy for Paris.
Some see it as small personal revenge. Sandrine Rousseau, for example, who – everyone knows it internally – has been cold with Julien Bayou since the presidential election. She is relegated to the street opposite, in an office next to the cleaning room. “It makes you laugh”, tells us this same framework which also underlines a form of amateurism. The environmental group, for example, has still not recruited a communications officer. An advisor relativizes: “We have no parliamentary experience, it will take a little time.”

Suffice to say that this little weekend aims to motivate the troops. Green MPs need to refocus. The 23 elected officials find themselves just among themselves, at least the first day, without collaborators, as if cut off from the world. Green, far from the capital and journalists in a small town in Seine-et-Marne. “It gets everyone drunk but it has to be done”, supports a parliamentarian. Since the elections, “we’ve never done it, at least not like that”he insists.
Two days to become a group, such is the program of this back-to-school seminar. Find yourself to find yourself. A deputy makes the to-do list, the list of checkboxes: “Go back to the summer sequence, the number of amendments to pass” and especially “refining the strategy” to adopt in the National Assembly and within the Nupes so as not to lose ground.
Because for the moment, the environmental group is sailing on sight. The proof, the seminar will begin with a collective Chinese portrait to be in unison. It is also necessary to create a link, the organizers have therefore planned moments of conviviality such as a cocktail party with a small bossa nova concert. But there again the idea divides: some consider this activity “too stuffy”.
